Designing opportunities for learning.

Learning environments require considerable design vision—an ability to anticipate future needs, accommodate diverse learning styles, plan for technological advancements, and foster student/teacher interaction. Durrant understands the importance of designing spaces for learning that embody the mission and goals of your specific organization. Because when the design reflects your vision, it communicates identity, pride, and excitement for learning.

Whether it be a collegiate lecture hall or an elementary media center, Durrant creates opportunities for learning that allow students to thrive. The facility itself functions as a teaching tool.

We have designed over 400 primary and secondary school projects, in 12 states, for over 140 educational clients. That’s over 30 million square feet.

Our specialty lies in curriculum-based, new, renovated, and shared-use facilities. We’ve designed classrooms with specialized spaces, such as exploratory/science laboratories offering specialized lab space or flexible lab space for multiple uses such as lectures, computers, lab work spaces, prep spaces, etc., gymnasiums, track and field, performing auditoriums, offices, technology and information systems, roofing, swimming pools, ADA compliance, health/life safety surveys, day-lighting, energy audits, temperature and humidity control, and use of health building products.

Recently, we have completed several district-wide and campus-wide facilities assessments with outcomes of improved energy efficiency and enhanced management tools and budgeting strategies that resulted in overall savings for our clients.

Enthusiasm for the process is shared by our clients. The outcome is a collaborative design effort that is as much the result of your ideas as ours.
